Liquor Unit Manager Gunned Down

NABARANGPUR:Manager of a country liquor unit of Singhsari village in the district was murdered near Karamgam village, around 15 km from Umerkote town on Monday morning. The deceased is Deepak Singh.

He was going to the bank from Singhsari on a motorcycle when three masked persons stopped him midway and opened fire at him. The incident took place at around 11 am and Deepak died on the spot.

A police team led by SP Jugal Kishore seized two empty cartridges from the spot. Deepak was fired at from a point blank range. Sources said he was carrying `1.12 lakh cash to deposit the money in a private bank in Umerkote.

Eyewitnesses said the three persons fired at Deepak and after he fell down, they took away the money and fled.

Police suspect that criminals from bordering Chhattisgarh might be involved in the killing.
