Bear Attacks Four Near Jaipur

When locals started pelting stones at the bear, the animal ran towards the old police station and fell inside a drain.

JAIPUR: A bear strayed into Jajpur Road on Thursday and attacked four persons near Chorda School. The animal entered the town in the wee hours and attacked the four persons near Government school while they were walking down the road for daily chores. When locals started pelting stones at the bear, the animal ran towards the old police station and fell inside a drain.

When forest officials reached the spot, they found the animal trapped inside the drain and informed Nandankanan Zoo officials to rescue it. The zoo officials sealed the drain from both the side by fencing and rescue operation was on till filing of this report.

The injured persons have been admitted to Area Hospital in Jajpur Road. Forest officials said the animal might have strayed into the human habitation from Pataranga forest while looking for food.
