Women Congress Activists’ Demo over Water Crisis

JEYPORE/ROURKELA: Members of Mahila Congress Committee of various district took out rallies and staged demonstrations on Monday protesting lack of drinking water facilities in their areas.

In Koraput, women activists holding placards and empty water containers staged demonstration in front of the Congress office here. Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said most of the villages and urban pockets of the district have no drinking water facilities. Even the State Government has no plan to initiate measures for providing water to the affected villages, he alleged. Koraput Congress president, Minakshi Bahinipati also spoke.

wome.jpgIn Rourkela, women wing of Sundargarh District Congress Committee (DCC) led by its president Sanjukta Oram and Odisha unit secretary Goreti Xess, took out a rally in Sundargarh town.

They handed over a memorandum to ADM RN Mishra demanding adequate drinking water supply to the people and repair of defunct tubewells on war-footing.
