4 Hurt in Clash at Mosque in Cuttack

CUTTACK: Tension prevailed on the premises of Kadam Rasool Mosque at Darghabazaar following a clash between two groups of minority community on Saturday. More than four persons were injured in the clash.

Police sources said the clash ensued over a long-standing dispute, which has been lingering between the two groups since 2012, for managing their Sahi Committee. Both groups were at loggerhead over the issue.

A quarrel between the two groups took place on Saturday afternoon following a dispute over parking of vehicles near the holy shrine.

Later, they confronted and assaulted each other, said Darghabazaar IIC Anil Kumar Beuria.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and pacified the community members.

As many as five platoons of police force have been deployed on the premises of mosque to prevent untoward incident. Police have also kept a close vigil on the situation which is under control, said ACP Sitaram Satapathy.
