National Award

BERHAMPUR: Two panchayats, Inginathi and Gobara, of Belaguntha block in Ganjam district, have been adjudged as best Gramin Mahila Sasaktikaran Panchayats by the Centre. The panchayats were devastated in Phailin and were reconstructed by women of the village.

Last year, a Central team had visited the panchayats and appreciated the role of women for their contribution in reconstruction work and cultivation.

At a function held at Jamshedpur on Sunday, Union Panchayati Raj Minister Chaudhary Birendra Singh felicitated Sarpanch of Inginathi Susant Kumar Pallei and Sarpanch of Gobara Chandra Sekhar Nayak. On Tuesday, the two elected leaders reached Belaguntha block office where they were given a rousing welcome by locals.  Later, a grand procession, led by BDO Bansidhar Khosala, was taken out from block office to several villages.
