JAGATSINGHPUR: Three police personnel of Tirtol were suspended over negligence in duty on Tuesday. The cops have been accused of helping a criminal, Sudhanshu Sekhar Prusty alias Bhagia, escape from the police station on Thursday. Apparently, one of the suspended cops, Kanakalata Behera, is Bhagia’s sister-in-law. Kanakalata was working as a constable in Tirtol police station. SP Sudha Singh had called for an inquiry into the case. During investigation, it was found out that Bhagia of Bamphapur under Tirtol police limits was arrested for attacking Trilochan Prusty of the same village over past enmity. After he was arrested on Thursday morning, Kanakalata handed over the keys of a motorcycle to him. Bhagya fled from the police station using the two-wheeler. Two other cops who have been suspended are ASI Alok Das and constable Manmohan Lenka.
