JHARSUGUDA:  Brajrajnagar Coal Movers Association suspended transport of coal from Lakhanpur, BOCM and Lilari open cast mines citing non-payment of dues by a transport agency.

On Wednesday, members of the association announced their decision to stall transport of coal from Lakhanpur area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) citing non-payment of freight charges amounting to about ` five crore by Haryana-based Ardhnageswar Coal Carriers.

Every month, more than 1500 trucks transport around 70,000 tonne of coal from Lakhanpur to Vedanta Industries at Jharsuguda, the association members said.
