Collector reply to Oppn Leader on Kandhamal road

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has provided ` one crore for black topping of 12 km road from Mangapanga square to Gumudumaha in Kandhamal district.

Kandhamal Collector Reghu G informed this to Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra in a letter on August 19. The road has already been transferred from Panchayati Raj to Rural Development Department and made motorable, he said and added that three tubewells have been installed in the village.

Besides, the district administration has already taken up electrification and other development work in the village, he said.

Mishra had led a team of senior Congress leaders and MLAs to Gumudumaha on July 15 to make an on-the-spot assessment of the standard of living of tribals in the village. He had also reviewed the situation at a high level meeting at Baliguda which was attended by the district Collector and other senior officers.

The Leader of Opposition had brought to the notice of the Collector the pitiable condition of the road which was not motorable and drinking water crisis in the village. He had asked the district administration to repair the road within three months, install tube wells in the village and take steps to make health services and electricity available to the villagers.
