BHUBANESWAR: Tension prevailed on BJB Autonomous College campus here on Monday after two groups clashed over a scuffle between students of second year and third year.
The matter came to the fore after a group of students and former students of the college started sloganeering outside the Principal’s office and allegedly abused some faculty members.

On being informed about the chaos inside the college building, students from the rival group rushed to the spot and had a minor scuffle with the former. By that time, college authorities had informed Badagada Police which rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
One platoon of force led by IIC Suvendu Sinha was deployed on the college campus for over five hours after the incident to avert any untoward incident.

After the fiasco, college authorities suspended the classes for the day. Later, the Principal of the college convened a meeting with senior faculty members to discuss the situation on the campus.
Sources said the spat was an outcome of a dispute between some senior and junior students. ‘’So far, we have not received any formal complaint from the college authorities or the students. We are keeping a close watch on the situation and if necessary, security will be stationed on the premises,’’ Sinha said.
