BHUBANESWAR: The Saru Gadia pond at Chintamaneswar area in the City, which was taken up under pond renovation project of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), was opened to the public on Wednesday.
Saru Gadia is one of the few water bodies which are fed by natural streams. A total of `28.84 lakh was invested by BMC for renovating the pond over a period of one year.
Located in Ward no 45, the pond will cater to the needs of residents of Badagada, Sabar Sahi, Kalpana Labour Colony and others areas in the vicinity, Corporator Amresh Jena said.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo inaugurated the pond. Among others, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Bijay Mohanty, Mayor AN Jena and Deputy Mayor K Shanti were present.
