BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division conducted raids on the office and residential premises of a sub-inspector (SI) of Excise Department and detected property worth `81.09 lakh on Wednesday. The searches were carried out on the basis of reports of accumulation of wealth by SI Laxman Kumar Sarangi which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The sleuths recovered documents of two double-storey buildings in Khurda and Bhubaneswar, one house at Aiginia as well as bank and insurance deposits worth `8.13 lakh owned by Sarangi and his family members. Sarangi is posted at Balipatna. Further investigation is on.
