BJP workers blocking road at Berhampur IExpress

BERHAMPUR: The BJP activists blocked the main road in front of Berhampur Municipal Corporation as  part of the State-wide agitation against the sex video of Bhubaneswar Mayor AN Jena and his alleged link in the murder of an engineering student, Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi.


The party’s district president, Kanhu Charan Pati criticised the State Government of shielding its officials involved in unlawful activities.


Describing the inquiry by the Government over the issue as an eyewash, BJP State Secretary Bibhuti Bhusan Jena questioned the silence of Chief Minister. 


In Baripada, more than 200 party workers blocked the town’s main roads passing through the Baripada Municipality office. Under the leadership of BJP town unit president, Bijay Kumar Das, they demanded CBI inquiry into Mayor’s alleged involvement in the death of Rishi.


The National Highway-26 passing through Balangir was blocked by the BJP workers. The road blockade was staged between Mahadev temple chowk to Gandhi Nagar Pada disrupting the traffic for almost two-hours.


In Nayagarh, the BJP activists staged agitation on NH 57 near NAC office blocking the road. Buses, trucks, cars and other vehicles were diverted creating inconvenience for the commuters. 
BJP Yuva Morcha president Santosh Pradhan and Krushak Morcha president Pradeep Jena made a scathing attack on the Government’s move to suppress the case.


Similarly in Athagarh, hundreds of BJP workers took out a rally from the Jagannath temple here and blocked the road at Chandabali square. The rally was led by Sanjukta Tripathy, Ila Panda, Manoranjan Mishra, Ramnarayan Mohanty, Tapan Lenka and others.
