KENDRAPARA: A doctor in a health centre at Indupur of Kendrapara district wrongly operated the large intestine of a woman, who had come for tubectomy operation.

Jharana Mallick (27), wife of a daily wager Ramesh Kumar Mallick of Kansar village in Kendrapara district,  has been admitted to the SCB Medical at Cuttack. She was admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Indupur in Kendrapara district to undergo family planning operation. However, a doctor of the hospital wrongly operated her large intestine instead of her fallopian tube. Soon after, her condition deteriorated and she was shifted to the ICU of the District Headquarters Hospital. She was then admitted to SCB Medical at Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.

Dr Niranjan Swain, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), said a portion of the intestine had been cut during the tubectomy  in the CHC at Indupur. Her condition is stable now, he added.
 Meanwhile, Ramesh has filed an FIR in Kendrapara police station alleging medical negligence. He demanded stern action against the doctor concerned.
