Panchayat EO held for taking bribe

The Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested the Executive Officer (EO) in-charge of Manitara panchayat in Ganjam district for demanding a bribe of `3,000 from a beneficiary.

BERHAMPUR: The Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested the Executive Officer (EO) in-charge of Manitara panchayat in Ganjam district for demanding a bribe of `3,000 from a beneficiary. The EO, Balaram Sethi, had demanded the money from Bhaskar Behera of Tambiri village for issuing  work order under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY).
Acting on a complaint filed by Behera, the Vigilance officials laid a trap and nabbed Balaram.

Mamata Rath flagged off
In a bid to create awareness about ICDS scheme meant for mothers and children, the Gajapati district administration on Wednesday flagged off ‘Mamata Rath’ at Kasinagar. ICDS project coordinator Kanaklata Pujai and  supervisor B Komalangi flagged off the ‘Rath.’ Several SHG members and anganwadi workers were present.

Training for fishermen
In order to enhance fish production, the Gajapati district administration on Wednesday organised a training camp at Kasinagar for fishermen. District Fisheries Officer Suresh Kumar Behera inaugurated the camp. Assistant Fisheries Officer Manoj Kumar Padhi imparted the training to about 60 fishermen and members of Taratareni Fishermen’s Cooperative Society.
