JHARSUGUDA: State Vigilance sleuths registered a case against former Belpahar Municipality Chairman Rashmirekha Mishra and the then Executive Officer Sachidananda Satpathy on Thursday for embezzlement of government money in connection with LED bulb purchase scam in Belpahar Municipality. Vigilance probe into the scam was ordered by the district administration following allegation of misappropriation of over `17 lakh during the purchase of the LED bulbs.
During the tenure of Rashmirekha as the Chairman, 115 LED bulbs were purchased in Belpahar Municipality at an inflated price of `44,152 as against the market price of `33,000 per bulb. Earlier, the present Belpahar Municipality Chairman Parshuram Sahu and former Executive Officer Tapas Ranjan Jena along with three others were embroiled in the case after the Vigilance inquiry report indicated their alleged involvement in the scam.
