PHULBANI : Elaborate security arrangements have been made and patrolling by police intensified in the sensitive pockets of Kandhamal district ahead of Christmas celebration.
Police have started checking vehicles at the entry points to the district and personnel have been deployed at vulnerable places like places of worship, prayer houses, said SP, Kandhamal, Pinak Mishra.
Apart from district police, additional 30 platoons of armed forces including CRPF have been deployed while SOG and DVF have been alerted, Mishra added.

Since Kui Samaj, led by Lambodar Kanhar, has given a bandh call on the day alleging negligence to the demands of the community, the administration has convened a meeting on Saturday to discuss the issue and is hopeful of convincing them.
Meanwhile, all the churces in the district have been decorated with lights of different hues and lamps. Collector Reghu G, who inspected the security arrangements with SP, exhorted the public to celebrate the day with brotherhood.
