NUAPADAIn Nuapada district cotton growers are a happy lot and have managed to sell their produce to private traders at a price more than the MSP. Bairaj Sahu (40) of Sialati village in Komna block had cultivated cotton over 26 acres of land and sold about 100 quintals at C4,500 to traders from Balangir.
He informed that with no mandi operating in the district, farmers have been selling their produce to traders from Balangir at good price.

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Nuapada, Umesh Chandra Das said the district-level cotton development meeting has decided to send a proposal to open a mandi at Tarbod for smooth procurement of cotton.
Admitting that infrastructure for sale of cotton in the district needs to be improved, he said steps have been initiated in this direction.
