Odisha government panel to prepare vision document for 2036

The departments were advised to articulate strategies for Vision-2036 for further deliberation.

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government today decided to set up a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Finance Secretary T K Pandey to work out a realistic vision document for 2036.

Keeping in view the 100 years completion of Odisha as a separate state in 2036, the state government has initiated deliberations for the preparation of Vision-2036.

Academics and administrators of the state today exchange views on different economic models which will be suitable for the State at a high-level meeting chaired by Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan here.

Experts from the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi, Center of Excellence in Finance and Taxes, Bhubaneswar and Secretaries of different departments of the state government participated in the deliberation.

Taking into consideration the past growth trends of the State, experts made projections about gross state domestic products (GSDP), investment and employment scales in 2036.

"We are working out the developmental visions of the State for this great historic occasion. Both the physical and human resources would be streamlined for realisation of the dreams of Vision-2036," Balakrishnan told reporters after the meeting.

Steps have been initiated for preparing perspective action plans to transform the vision into action at ground level.

The draft for the perspective developmental plan in accordance with Vision -2036 would be prepared soon, he added.

Action models for achieving the targeted goals like shared prosperity, equitable distributions of the developmental outcomes, social justice, occupational dignity and inclusive growth were also deliberated in the meeting.

The Development Commissioner emphasised that the vision document should be shaped as a powerful instrument to shape the future of our State.

The departments were advised to articulate strategies for Vision-2036 for further deliberation. It was decided to draft the vision document within the next 3 months.
