AT chief pleads guilty to CBI charges

BHUBANESWAR: Prime accused in Artha Tatwa Group scam Pradip Sethy on Wednesday submitted a petition in the Special CBI Court here pleading guilty of the charges pressed against him by the Central agency.


While Sethy had earlier pleaded guilty during his previous production in the court two weeks back, his application was submitted in the CBI Court by the authorities of Bhubaneswar Special Jail on the day.
Sethy is accused of swindling public deposits to the tune of `1200 crore. He had floated nine firms under Artha Tatwa Group that had interests in 14 sectors.


While Sethy is already in judicial custody for three and a half years, sources said if convicted of the charges pressed by CBI, he will be sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment. 
“The undertrial prisoner can also move a bail application after his conviction is announced,’’ a Prison Department source said.


AT Group collected money from small investors in Odisha with a promise of high returns ranging from 15 to 20 per cent.
