Probe into Jan Dhan account misuse starts 

Commissionerate Police began its probe into the alleged illegal transaction of lakhs of rupees through Jan Dhan accounts in Gopinathpur SBI.

CUTTACK: Commissionerate Police on Thursday began its probe into the alleged illegal transaction of lakhs of rupees through Jan Dhan accounts in Gopinathpur branch of State Bank of India (SBI) under Salepur block here.  


Though police conducted investigation at the SBI branch and examined the accounts in its customer service point at Mahajanpur, no breakthrough has yet been made, sources said. 


A senior police official said efforts are on to identify the depositors and receiver of the money.   
Commissionerate Police has also written to Chief General Manager of SBI, Bhubaneswar Circle to make an enquiry into the matter and submit details about the suspected transactions. 


On Wednesday, 13 women members of Tulasi self-help group (SHG) of Padmapur had lodged a complaint with Jagatpur police about the unknown and illegal transaction made though their Jan Dhan accounts without their knowledge.
