BHUBANESWAR: A group of five miscreants on Friday brutally assaulted the journalist of a vernacular news channel at Lumbini Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits here.
According to police, one Manoj Sahoo, who works as a news coordinator with a local news channel, was attacked by Rati Mohanty and his associates while he was on his way to work.
The miscreants were reportedly drunk when the incident occurred. They waylaid Sahoo's motorcycle accusing him of abusing them. Before the journalist could respond, he was beaten for about 15 minutes.
He rushed to Chandrasekharpur police station and reported the matter following which he was detained for questioning.
