Chaiti fest from Dec 10

RAYAGADA: The five-day district level Chaiti festival-2016 and Palishree Mela will begin from December 10 to showcase the cultural heritage of the district.

This was decided at the first preparatory meeting held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Collector, who is also the chairman of District council of  Culture, Guha Punam Tapas Kumar.

The festival will begin at block level and culminate at the district level. Organised by the District Council of Culture and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, the annual Mahotsav provides a common platform  for the tribals to exhibit their talent and interact with artistes from other parts of the State. “Last year.

Chaiti festival saw participation of only local cultural troupes, but this year, we have decided to open the festival of artistes from other parts of the country as well,” said the Collector.
