Pension money disbursed in Cuttack

CUTTACK: Despite the currency crunch owing to demonetisation of high value notes, the district administration on Tuesday successfully disbursed pension money to the elderly, widows and disabled beneficiaries of 14 blocks and four civic bodies including Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC),  Choudwar Municipality, Athagarh and Banki NACs.

The administration had made elaborate arrangements  and taken precautionary measures for smooth disbursement of the pension money. In absence of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, the administration had to depend on Rs 100 denomination notes for distribution of the pension.
The old age, widow and disability pensions of Rs 300 and Rs 500 are disbursed on 15th of every month.
Earlier, the administration had convened an emergency meeting of the lead district manager and coordinators of all banks functioning in the district where Cuttack Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra had advised to make arrangement of sufficient Rs 100 currency notes for smooth distribution of the pension money.

According to official sources, there are 1,10,558 beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Pension Scheme and around 1,32,000 beneficiaries under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana in the district.
