Vigilance​ raid on irrigation officer

Vigilance sleuths on Friday swooped down on the establishments of an Assistant Engineer (AE) following allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

SUNDARGARH : Vigilance sleuths on Friday swooped down on the establishments of an Assistant Engineer (AE) following allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

 The AE, Shankar Kishan is posted at Talasara irrigation division section in Sundargarh district. Vigilance officers unearthed assets worth `1.01 crore during simultaneous raids on the residential and office premises of Kishan. Searches were conducted in his house at OMP Line and ancestral house at Amlipali in Jharsuguda district besides office rooms at Talasara and Sundargarh town.

 Kishan joined as Junior Engineer 1988 and promoted to the rank of AE in 2013. Vigilance sleuths unearthed six plots worth `6 lakh, a building at Durlaga worth `62.9 lakh, building at Amlipali of `5.5 lakh, two four-wheelers and four two-wheelers and household articles worth `8.14 lakh.
