KORAPUT : A newborn was rescued by District Child Protection Officer Rajshree Dash from Ravanaguda Community Health Centre under Jeypore block on Monday. An unmarried girl with complaint of waist pain was brought to the CHC on Monday morning by her parents.
On examination, the doctor found her pregnant and some time later she delivered a male child.
A few hours later, she and her parents fled leaving behind the child. The doctor informed DCPO who took the child with her and produced her in Child Welfare Committee.
The committee advised to keep the baby at Astha orphanage. Meanwhile, the boy has been admitted in Special Newborn Care Unit at DHH for preliminary treatment.
