CUTTACK: Miscreants on Friday night looted a portion of Chandi Medha (silver tableaux) of Alisha Bazaar Puja Committee under Lalbag police limits. The stolen silver is said to be of about 40 kg worth more than `19 lakh.
Sources said like every year after Durga Puja, the Chandi Medha was preserved for use during the upcoming Kali Puja.
Miscreants entered the mandap by breaking open the locks of two grill gates and disconnected the CCTV camera. They cut some portions of the silver tableaux and decamped with the valuables.
Police conducted a spot enquiry after an FIR was lodged by president of the Puja committee Rabi Ranjan Sahu.
“Investigation is on and the miscreants will be nabbed soon, said IIC, Lalbag police station Deba Datta Baral.
