Bhubaneswar SUM hospital promoter Manoj Nayak granted bail

BHUBANESWAR: SUM Hospital’s principal promoter Manoj Ranjan Nayak was granted bail by the Court of Additional District Judge (ADJ) - II, Khurda on Saturday. Medical superintendent of SUM Hospital Dr Pushparaj Samantsinghar was also granted bail by the ADJ - II today.

They secured bail with a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh and two guarantors. The court has asked Nayak and Dr Samantsinghar to cooperate with the investigating officer probing into the fire tragedy which occurred on October 17, sources said.

The verdict on Nayak’s bail was reserved after the hearing of his plea ended on Thursday. Nayak is currently under judicial custody after his two-day remand ended on October 24. He is likely to be released from the Special Jail at Jharpada in the city today evening.

Samantsinghar complained of feeling ill and was admitted to SCB Medical College, Cuttack within a few hours of his arrest. He was discharged from the hospital a day later and taken into judicial custody.
