4D SFX theatre opens in State Maritime Museum

CUTTACK: Chief  Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a state-of-the-art 4D SFX theatre at Odisha State Maritime Museum at Jobra here.
The 48-seat air-conditioned theatre, which is a first of its kind in Odisha, has been built at a cost of `1.85 crore. ‘’The theatre will provide entertainment to visitors of all age groups, especially the young with a unique 4D special effect experience. It will attract tourists to the Silver City,’’ the CM said after inaugurating the hall.

The 4D SFX theatre, equipped with powerful surround system along with special effects, will ensure a complete entertainment package for visitors.
‘’It will be a new experience for visitors as there will be various special effects like neck blast, back vibrator, leg tickler, air blast and facial water spray near the seats,’’ said Museum director Basudev Mohapatra.

‘’We have 10 short films of maximum 15 minutes duration which will be screened at the theatre. There would be added effects such as wind, smoke, fog, aroma, strobes, bubbles and even snow during the screening,’’ Mohapatra said adding that the cost of a ticket has been fixed at `60.  

The Museum boasts of 10 galleries showcasing the rich maritime history of Odisha along with a special aquarium which exhibits more than 60 aquatic species.
The Museum also houses a gallery on the ancient maritime rituals performed by Odia ‘Sadhabas’ (sailors) before they set sail for Bali, Java and Sumatra from the State.
