JAGATSINGHPUR: The district administration has clamped prohibitory orders in Kalikuda village under Erasama police limits in the wake of possible law and order situation. 

There has been a dispute between villagers of Kalikuda under Kunjkothi panchayat and Dasmath village under Japa panchayat over collection of  cashewnuts from 4.06 acres of government land. 

A few days back, six villagers of Kalikuda were assaulted for the dispute and trying to meet  Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue. Police have registered a case and issued notices to 71 persons of both the panchayats.


Police complaint against five

Police have registered a case against five persons, including a gynaecologist, for their involvement in an illegal abortion of a minor girl. The girl was in an affair with Subash Jena of Banarbarada village under Tirtol police limits. When she became pregnant, Jena forced her to get an abortion done. 

The girl who was five months pregnant, however, refused to do so. Jena, his two friends Jatadhari Pallei and Dhruba Charan Jena, and former sarpanch of Kanakpur, Bijaya Nayak, forcibly took the girl to a private clinic and aborted the foetus.

The girl informed her parents following which, they lodged a police complaint in Tirtol police station. No one has been arrested yet.
