Two years on, no Tehsildar

People of Jeypore region are facing a tough time in the absence of a regular Tehsildar to look after revenue matters in Jeypore, the commercial hub of Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi (KBK) region.

JEYPORE: People of Jeypore region are facing a tough time in the absence of a regular Tehsildar to look after revenue matters in Jeypore, the commercial hub of Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi (KBK) region. The post has been lying vacant for the past two years.

The residents are dependent on the local Tehsil office for issuance of caste certificates, land records, income certificates, land demarcations, mutation of land records and other works.

Meanwhile, sources claim that the official works are being carried out by various Block Development Officers, as the district administration here has been vested with the power of assigning the works to other officers.

This has apparently led to increase in pending cases at the Tehsil office. No officer was permanently posted to the office after a Tehsildar was transferred from here two years back. Currently, either the BDO of Jeypore or Boipariguda is looking after the office works.Meanwhile, the residents and some local organisations have demanded appointment of a permanent Tehsildar.
