BHUBANESWAR: A woman on Thursday lodged a complaint with Bhubaneswar DCP alleging that an RTI activist was maligning her image on social media.

Charulata Mohapatra approached Bhubaneswar DCP on Thursday to lodge a complaint against Odisha Loka Samukhya chief and RTI activist, Ashok Nanda, alleging that he was maligning her image by posting derogatory remarks on her on Whatsapp and other social networking sites.
She claimed that Ashok is the friend of her estranged husband, Subhash Mohapatra. The complainant was accompanied by State Progressive Women’s Forum members to the DCP office. They alleged that Subhash had also married three other women.

Charulata had earlier lodged a complaint with Puri police alleging that Subhash, who is an RTI activist, had harassed her for dowry after their marriage in 2003. She recently told mediapersons that Subhash deserted her three months after their marriage and she has a daughter from the marriage. Charulata alleged that Subhash was threatening her to withdraw the complaint lodged against him.
Meanwhile, Nanda, rebutted the allegations. “Three other activists and I had met Charulata and discussed the matter with her. I have never written anything against her,” he said.
