Seven dead, five injured after van collides with truck in Odisha

At least seven persons, including a kid, died and five others sustained severe injuries after the van they were in collided head-on with a truck at Bhabanipali on National Highway 55 .

SAMBALPUR: At least seven persons, including a kid, died and five others sustained severe injuries after the van they were in collided head-on with a truck at Bhabanipali on National Highway 55 under the Jujumura police limits in the district on Monday afternoon.

The injured were rushed to district headquarters hospital. Reports said, all the passengers of the van were from Parmanpur village under Sadar police limits. They had gone to visit Kalpeswar temple in Hatibari on Monday morning and met with the accident on their return.

Police reached the spot immediately after getting information and recovered the bodies. The fire brigade also reached the spot to extricate the bodies, which were trapped in the van.

“The identification of the deceased and the injured persons is yet to be ascertained,” said sub-inspector of Jujumura police station, Jugal Kishore Sahu.
