NABARANGPUR:Though the BJD has emerged as the single largest party by winning 11 of the 26 ZP seats in Nabarangpur,  none of the three political parties have touched the magic figure to form the Zilla Parishad Council. To capture the ZP president post, a support of minimum 14 ZP members is required.  The Congress bagged eight seats and the BJP won seven seats.

According to the results declared on Saturday, in Nabarangpur Zone-I, BJD candidate Kamala Bisoi has been elected after he defeated Congress candidate Baladev Ningi by 2,025 votes. In Zone-II, BJD candidate Vedvyash Bhotra won the seat by 4,790 votes by defeating Banamali Bhotra of the Congress.
Similarly in Nandahandi Zone-I, BJD nominee Mamata Bhotra won the seat by defeating BJP candidate Tulusha Majhi by 2,114 votes. In Zone-II, BJP candidate Baby Majhi registered her victory by defeating rival Sanjukta Gadava of BJD by 744 votes. In Tentulikhunti Zone-I, BJD candidate Champabati Muduli won the seat by 2,524 votes defeating her nearest rival Pamini Santa of Congress. However, in Zone-II, Congress candidate Sulochana Soura won the seat by defeating Meneka Majhi of BJP by 111 votes.
In Raighar block, all the four seats have gone in favour of the BJP. In Zone-I, Deo Kumari Gond of the BJP wrested the seat by defeating BJD candidate Devaki Gond by 2,668 votes. Similarly in Zone-II, BJP candidate Punita Gond won the seat by defeating Bhanumati Khora of BJD by 337 votes. In Zone-III also, BJP candidate Sudarshan Majhi won the seat by defeating Nabeen Kumar Santa of BJD by 2,245 votes. In Zone-IV, Preeti Snigdha Mahapatro of BJP bagged the seat by defeating the BJD candidate Tanushree Bhunya by 4,591 votes.

In Papadahandi Zone-I, Congress nominee Chandrama Harijan won the seat by  defeating Sushila Harijan of BJD by 2,867 votes. In Zone-II, Congress candidate Dhanapati Harijan defeated Ram Mirgan of BJD by 1,141 votes. However in Zone-III, BJD candidate Bhagavati Bhotra won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Tulusha Bhotra by 2,113 votes. In Kosagumuda Zone-I, Jugadhar Harijan of Congress won the seat by defeating BJD candidate Belansen Ganda by 275 votes. In Zone-II, BJD candidate Bali Bhotra won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Damburu Bhotra by 2,306 votes. In Zone-III, Congress candidate Kamini Harijan won the seat by 1,950 votes.
In Umerkote Zone-I, BJP candidate Bhajanath Gond won the seat by defeating BJD candidate Birsingh Majhi by 2,081 votes. In Dabugam Zone-I, BJD candidate Nibedita Mohanty won the seat by 420 votes and defeated her nearest rival Bhabana Jena of Congress. In Zone-II, Congress candidate  Umavati Bhotra won the seat by 268 votes by defeating BJD candidate Malati Majhi.
