‘Stage 360 Degree’ takes the stage in Rourkela

ROURKELA: On the lines of Bhubaneswar’s Patha Utsav, Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC), with the support of a host of voluntary organisations, organised Stage 360 Degree here on Sunday. It is an attempt to boost recreational activities and promote urban services.
Rourkela ADM and Rourkela Smart City Ltd (RSCL) CEO Monisha Banerjee inaugurated the event, which made a moderate start during  its maiden attempt.
Earlier, the event was named ‘Road Mania’, which was renamed as  Stage 360 Degree after the involvement of RMC.

RMC Commissioner AK Mallick said the event was marked by a health check-up camp, awareness on Aadhaar enrolment and urban services, including Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Survekshan, urban housing scheme, AMRUT scheme and collection of citizens’ feedbacks on sanitary services.
 “Free Wi-Fi services were provided between 6 am and 10 am for use of Swachh App of the RMC, while the SBI conducted awareness on digital banking to promote electronic transactions and opening of bank accounts,” he added.

Sources said on entertainment and recreational front, various city groups presented ‘Bhajan’, Odissi, modern group dance and rock dance. The Zumba fitness dance programme was the major attraction. This apart, martial art demonstration, orchestra performances, slow cycling, motor-bike riding, 3D painting, roller skating and cricket were part of the event. A few amateur singers also mesmerised the crowd with Hindi songs.
The Commissioner said the event was aimed at roping in people from all walks of life to promote urban services and also ensure recreational activities. “RMC is looking for sponsors to hold the event at least once a month,” he added.
 The voluntary outfits involved in the event said that the next event will be held on March 12.
