‘Helping Hand’ for needy launched

 Volunteers will organise camps at different places, including slums and interior pockets, to receive donations.

SAMBALPUR:The district administration and Indian Red Cross Society, Sambalpur branch on Sunday launched a new initiative ‘Helping Hand’ to collect fund and assistance from people and distribute it among the needy.

A collection centre for the purpose was inaugurated by Collector Samarth Verma on the premises of the Collectorate here.

The centre will run from 11 am to 5 pm on all working days. Deputy Collector Sitansu Tripathy said the volunteers will appeal residents to donate unused articles and goods which will be distributed among the needy. All donated items must be in usable condition, he added. Various utility items besides clothes can be donated, he added. One can also donate cash or money can be marked for specific purpose. The Red Cross will issue receipt for cash donation, he said.
