Jaundice cases rise to 35

With detection of six new Jaundice cases in the last five days, the total number of affected persons in the water-borne affected Tulasipur Matha Sahi here increased to 35 on Tuesday.

CUTTACK: With detection of six new Jaundice cases in the last five days, the total number of affected persons in the water-borne affected Tulasipur Matha Sahi here increased to 35 on Tuesday. However, non official sources put the figure at more than 60.

To combat the outbreak of the disease caused by contaminated pipeline water, Cuttack Municipal Corporation(CMC) authorities claimed to have undertaken steps for repair and replacement of leaking pipelines, drain desilting, deployment of squads to check roadside eateries and creating awareness in the locality.

''The situation is under control. Both CMC and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) officials are keeping a close watch on the affected locality in Ward no 8,'' said CMC Commissioner Gyana Das.
