Probe panel takes steps to identify investors

The Commission of Inquiry on unauthorised collection of public deposit has taken a special step for identification of investors, depositors and customers of chit fund companies GLP Developers Limited

CUTTACK: The Commission of Inquiry on unauthorised collection of public deposit has taken a special step for identification of investors, depositors and customers of chit fund companies GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited.

On the direction of Orissa High Court, the Commission has called upon the aggrieved investors and depositors to submit affidavits in any of six branches of the companies at Bhubaneswar, Balugaon, Berhampur, Bhanja Nagar, Paralakhemundi and Bhawanipatna before February 20.  After getting the affidavits, the Commission will start the process of identification and assessment.

As per reports, besides attaching landed properties of the companies in Chhatrapur and Chikiti tehsils, the State Government had seized their bank deposits of `94 crore.
However, following delay in disposing the seized properties and disbursing money among the duped investors, an investor had filed the case.
The High Court on January 4 had requested the Commission of Inquiry to take up identification of duped investors and submit a report on the money invested by each of them within two months.
