Vigilance registers cases against gas dealers

Continuing its crackdown against defaulting gas agencies, the State Vigilance on Tuesday registered four cases against proprietors, including staffers of Government cooperative body Alaka.

CUTTACK: Continuing its crackdown against defaulting gas agencies, the State Vigilance on Tuesday registered four cases against proprietors, including staffers of Government cooperative body Alaka.
Of four cases, two were registered by Cuttack Vigilance and the remaining with Bhubaneswar Division of the Vigilance Wing.

Bhubaneswar Wholesale Cooperative Society Alaka’s secretary Krushna Chandra Das, president Dasarathi Behera and store keeper-cum-junior salesman Kishore Kumar Barik were booked by the anti corruption wing’s Bhubaneswar Division.

Similarly, a case was registered against Umesh Chandra Gupta and T Arun Kumar Patra, both proprietors of Modern Living HP Gas Agencies at Balugaon.
Md Sahabuddin and Nagama Sirin, proprietors of Neulpur Indane Gramin Vitrak in Jajpur were booked. Ajit Kumar Mishra, owner of Maa Durga Indane Gas at Boinda in Angul and its manager Babulal Sahoo were also booked.

The cases have been registered basing on prima facie evidence of illegality and irregularities found in stock of cylinders and records during the surprise joint inspection conducted by State Vigilance in association with officials of Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Department.
 On Sunday, the Vigilance had filed cases against Pradhan Gas Services owned by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s brother Soumendra.
