ANGUL: THE district administration on Thursday sealed the Maa Budhi gas agency after the seizure of 73 Indane cylinders on Wednesday from Changudia village under Chhendipada block during the ongoing raids on gas agencies across the State to check illegal storage of gas cylinders.
The gas agency owner, Sudhakar Sahu, was arrested by the police on the charge of violation of Explosives Act and Illegal Storage of Gas Cylinders.
As per the directive of Collector Anil Kumar Samal, a team of police, supply officials and Magistrate are engaged in the crackdown on illegal storage of gas cylinders in the district. A gas agency, Snehalata, in the town was also raided in this connection.
In another development, supply officials seized 319 empty cylinders from a community centre hall of Chandanpur village at Bantala area on Thursday. Also, there are reports of seizure of empty cylinders at Jarapara area. It is believed that these cylinders were meant for distribution during the ensuing elections.
