Ostracised accuse cops of inaction

At least 12 persons of six ostracised families of Indpur village are on an indefinite dharna outside Larambha police station protesting police inaction.

PATNAGARH : At least 12 persons of six ostracised families of Indpur village are on an indefinite dharna outside Larambha police station protesting police inaction in resolving the issue. The families have been ostracised for their suspected role in non- establishment of gram panchayat headquarters of the newly-carved Khursel gram panchayat in Indpur village.

According to reports, ahead of the panchayat elections, Larambha gram panchayat was reconstituted and a new Khursel gram panchayat carved out. Villagers of Indpur wanted the gram panchayat headquarters of Khursel to be located at Indpur village and not Khursel.

However, the headquarters office was established in Khursel. This did not go down well with Indpur villagers who accused 12 persons of the village of conspiring against setting up of the office in the area. They are Balaram Behera, Himdra Behera, Manasi Sahu, Hemsagar Sahu, Sukru Mahakud, Kangalu Sahu, Purnachandra Behera, Debraj Behera, Mangeram Seth and Satyanand Behera. Apparently, Balaram had taken the lead in forming a group of villagers that supported formation of a new gram panchayat. The other villagers were part of the group.
