NIMAPARA: One person died and two others sustained critical injuries after a wall in their house collapsed due to heavy rains here on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Sunei Dei (63), wife of Siba Das (65) of Tiruna village within Gop police limits. The injured, Siba and his niece Purnima Das (23), are undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Sources said after the Das family went to bed, the mud wall of their thatched house collapsed late in the night. While Sunei was crushed under the wall, Siba and Purnima were rushed to Gop CHC by neighbours. They were later shifted to Capital Hospital on Sunday.
Villagers alleged that though they gave a call to 108 ambulance, it reached the village four hours after the incident.
