Bomb hurled at CMC Deputy Mayor’s house

Panic griped the busy street of Link Road in the city after unidentified miscreants hurled bomb at the house of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Deputy Mayor Ajay Barik on Wednesday night.

CUTTACK: Panic griped the busy street of Link Road in the city after unidentified miscreants hurled bomb at the house of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Deputy Mayor Ajay Barik on Wednesday night.The incident occurred around 7.45 pm when Barik was away from the house. Sources said, the miscreants immediately fled from the spot. The bomb partially damaged the glass of his two four-wheelers kept on the yard of his house near Guchi restaurant within Badambadi police limits. Police rushed to the spot and started investigation.

According to preliminary investigation, the incident is said to be a fall out of the recent decision of Cuttack Private Bus Owners’ Association in respect of doing away with the system of hawker and supervisor from Badambadi bus stand.Barik is presently secretary of Cuttack Private Bus Owners’ Association. “We suspect the involvement of someone holding a grudge against Barik for the decision, said ACP, Anil Mishra.
