Minister reviews flood situation in Odisha's Rayagada

RAYAGADA: SC and ST Development Minister Ramesh Majhi and BJD observer of Rayagada district Sanjay Dasburma on Thursday visited the flood-affected areas of Kalyansinghpur and Rayagada blocks and took stock of the situation.

After their visit to different affected villages, they held a review meeting and directed the district officials to submit a detailed damage report caused by flash flood.

Dasburma asked Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) Gourang Charan Sahu to submit a proposal for construction of an embankment on river Kalyani near Kalyansinghpur block headquarters for approval.

Majhi said Kalyansighpur and Rayagada blocks have suffered heavy loss due to flash flood affecting the  livelihood of tribals. He assured that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be apprised of the plight of the people and steps will be initiated to release funds for relief.

Among others, Rajya Sabha member N Bhaskar Rao, Collector Guha Punam Tapas Kumar, PA ITDA Muralidhar Swain and senior district level officials were present.
