BHUBANESWAR: A young woman, believed to be from Uzbekistan, was arrested for manhandling cops in an inebriated state in Kharavel Nagar of the City on Sunday night.Later, police recovered `49, 500 and an Aadhaar card from her possession, where her name has been mentioned as Duniya Khan.

As per the Aadhaar details, the woman is a native of Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi. But, the card is apparently fake. The woman later told the police that she belonged to Tashkent.

“We are verifying the details and scrutinising the documents recovered from her. We have asked Delhi Police to verify the Aadhar card.” DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said adding, the woman has been arrested for physically assaulting the cops.

Police received information about the woman lying on the footpath near a hotel located close to Mali Sahi. A team of two officers and three constables went to the spot and found the woman, who had slept off, and tried to wake her up.

Under intoxication, the woman allegedly hurled abuses, punched and kicked the police personnel, including a lady cop. She also allegedly broke the mirror of the police jeep. This went on well beyond midnight.

Later, she was taken to Mahila Police Station where the police waited until she sobered up. Though she also attempted to flee from the police station, cops managed to bring her under control.

The woman was communicating with the cops in Hindi and English but she was not fluent in either of the two languages. The cops had also found a bottle of wine from the jeans-clad woman. Meanwhile, police are also verifying for what reasons the 21-year-old woman was in Bhubaneswar, said sources.

Police have booked the woman under Sections 294, 323, 353, 341, 427 and 506 of IPC. She was sent for a medical examination on Monday afternoon before being produced before a court here.
