Vehicle lifters gang busted, five arrested

The Government Railway Police (GRP) busted a vehicle lifting gang and arrested its five members from different places of the State in the last three days.

BHUBANESWAR: The Government Railway Police (GRP) busted a vehicle lifting gang and arrested its five members from different places of the State in the last three days. They have been identified as Lipu Mangaraj (20) of Godipada village under Jankia police limits, Akshaya Hati (26) of Godipada, Anil Badajena alias Kalia (19) of Malipada and two juveniles from Khurda and Rayagada districts.

GRP SP Sanjay Kaushal said they have also seized 12 motorcycles and one Bolero from their possession.
“The gang was involved in several cases of vehicle theft cases from the railway stations and other places of Rayagada, Koraput and Khurda. One of the two juveniles is the mastermind of the gang. The gang used to sell the vehicles at a paltry sum of `5,000 to `15,000. We are trying to trace the receivers of the stolen vehicles,” he added.
GRP SP said the miscreants used duplicate keys to steal the vehicles. The officials also seized 10 motorcycles from Khurda, Jankia and Jatni and two motorcycles from Rayagada railway station.
