JHARSUGUDA: Close on the heels of the gangrape incident in Dhenkanal district, a similar ghastly crime was reported from Jharsuguda. A 37-year-old tribal woman was allegedly gangraped on Thursday night at her house in Chichinda village under Gandhi Chowk police outpost limits.
Villagers found the woman lying unconscious in front of her house on Friday morning and informed Brajrajnagar police.
She has been admitted to VSS Medical at Burla in a critical condition.
Brajrajnagar SDPO N C Dandsena said the woman was staying alone in her house while her husband and two children are staying in Bhawanipur in Sundargarh district.
Police have detained four persons in this connection. Of them, one had reportedly confessed to the crime. Dandsena said a case has been registered and inquiry has been initiated.
A few days back, a 45-year-old widow, Jayamani Patra of Balikuma village under Kankadahada block in Dhenkanal district, was gangraped and brutally murdered.
