BHUBANESWAR: As a precursor to the annual disaster preparedness mock drill which is conducted on June 19 every year, the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) on Saturday conducted a table top exercise at the State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) here.
The exercise was simultaneously held at the district EOCs, blocks and multi-purpose cyclone and flood shelters across the State. The exercise was conducted through use of phone and other modes of communication such as e-mail, fax, whatsapp and SMS. Dummy massages on disaster early warning were dispatched from the State EOC to the district EOCs in four stages along with instructions for preparedness at district, block and shelter levels.
Officials of Special Relief Commissioner, OSDMA and UNDP operated as observers. The annual mock drill will be participated by State EOC, officials of all related departments.
