Three more post office passport seva kendras to be opened in Odisha

The issue was raised by chief minister Naveen Patnaik during his meeting with Swaraj at New Delhi. The Seva Kendras will be set up at Balasore, Berhampur and Bhawanipatna.

BHUBANESWAR: Union minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj on Thursday assured chief minister Naveen Patnaik that three more post office passport seva kendras will be opened in Odisha in the second phase.

The issue was raised by chief minister Naveen Patnaik during his meeting with Swaraj at New Delhi. The Seva Kendras will be set up at Balasore, Berhampur and Bhawanipatna.

The union minister said another advisory will be issued to India's diplomatic missions abroad to provide timely and adequate response to immigrants from the country including Odisha who are in distress.

She also agreed to share the database on immigrants from Odisha working abroad who have legally migrated to different countries through authorised agents approved by the ministry of external affairs.

The chief minister said the database will help the state government to reach out to families of people in distress abroad and take timely action for their rescue and repatriation.

He said immigrants from Odisha complain they have not received adequate response from the diplomatic missions in time to resolve post-repatriation issues relating to their wages, salaries, insurance and compensation.

The chief minister requested Swaraj to issue a suitable advisory to India's diplomatic missions abroad to demonstrate utmost sensitivity to their problems.
