Efforts on to nab tipper driver

ROURKELA: The  mortal remains of the four schoolchildren, who died in a road accident on Friday, were consigned to flames by their parents on Saturday at their villages under K Balang police limits in Bonai sub-division of Sundargarh district.


Bonai SDPO S R Mohapatra said bodies of three children - Sunami Munda, Ranjit Munda and Anup Munda, all aged five to seven years __  and the auto-rickshaw driver, Sukra Mundari, were handed over to their families on Saturday after autopsy at Lahunipara CHC.  

He said autopsy of the body of another child Shalin Munda(6), who died on Friday evening at Ispat General Hospital (IGH), was conducted at Rourkela on Saturday. He said efforts were underway to arrest the errant tipper driver.


CITU leader Banamali Dhupal said another critically injured child, Samta Munda, was on Saturday shifted to Cuttack from IGH, while his brother is undergoing treatment at the IGH.


 Police said after the tragic mishap near Swayambha, about 95 km from here, seven injured children were admitted to IGH and Rourkela Government Hospital, while one child escaped with minor injury.
