ROURKELA:THE Rourkela Police on Tuesday night arrested three cadres of the Jharkhand-based dreaded criminal outfit, People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) from Urmei village under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh district.

Police said Radhe Naik (30) and Sujit Ram (30) of Khunti district in Jharkhand are hardcore criminals while the third person, Ramesh Singh, of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district worked as a courier agent for the outfit.
Deputy SP (DSP), RK Panigrahi informed that Rourkela SP Anirudh Singh received a tip-off about the presence of suspected PLFI men at Khatangtoli hamlet of the village on Tuesday night. The SP had sent a special squad to the spot and the PLFI members were arrested with two .315 bore rifles and 10 live bullets, he added. They confessed that they were working for PLFI top leader, Dinesh Gope and second-in-command Akash Singh. Panigrahi said the PLFI members were active in West Singhbhum, Simdega and Gumla districts of Jharkhand and their criminal records in these districts are being verified.

On February 9, in an exchange of fire, the Rourkela Police had gunned down two PLFI men and destroyed a forest camp near Pital village under Bisra police limits leading to recovery of a modified AK 47 rifle with loaded magazine, one .303 rifle, seven SBBL (Single Barrel Breach Loading) rifles, one country made pistol, about 190 live ammunition including eight magazines of other weapons.
Similarly, on September 3 last year, two other PLFI criminals were gunned down in exchange of fire by Rourkela police in Gurundia forest leading to recovery of two carbines, two magazines, other ammunition and `50,000 cash.
